“Baby (featuring Dâm-Funk)” by Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti // Mature Themes (Out 8.21.12 on 4AD)
Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti is back with a follow-up to 2010’s excellent “Before Today”. The new album, titled “Mature Themes” is the album that Ariel Rosenberg claims (to Spin) that he wanted to make back when he was making “Before Today” but couldn’t do to “pressures and different factors”. The first taste from the new album is actually a cover of a 1979 track by Donnie and Joe Emerson called “Baby” that features guest vocals by Dâm-Funk. It’s a straight on cover with no real change ups from the original, but that’s all right because the original is itself a slice of smoothed out AM pop with a little soul tossed in for good measure. Just the kind music that Ariel Pink has sort of perfected these last couple of years. You can also check out upcoming tour dates from Ariel and his crew.
